Distribution in the Americas

It is distributed from the south of Mexico to Costa Rica. There are two populations: one in the Pacific Slope and another in the Atlantic Slope between Honduras and Nicaragua. In Mexico in the Pacific slope from southern Oaxaca to Chiapas.

It is a resident species considered from rare to common in its distributional range that extends to 91,000 km2.

Habitat

It inhabits between 0 and 600 m asl in tropical dry forests, in shrubs and savannas. It can be found in oak forests, gallery forest and secondary vegetation.
