Distribution in the Americas

It is an endemic species of Mexico. It is distributed in the highlands of the Baja California Peninsula in the Cape Region, in the Sierra de la Laguna and Sierra de la Giganta.

Is a resident species, apparently makes local movements according with the flowering of the plants on which it feeds. It is considered abundant in its range, which is estimated at 42,000 km2 and its global population has not been estimated.

Occasionally it is found in lowlands in desert scrubs and areas with gardens near the coast. It is found from 0 - 1,500 m asl.
