Distribution in the Americas

It distributes only in southwestern Mexico in the mountains of Michoacán, Guerrero and Jalisco.

Apparently it is a resident species. Its distributional range is very restricted and do not know their population numbers.

Distribution outside the Americas

Can be found in conifer forests that are mixed with cloud forests, and where waterfalls abound in rocky rivers, also living in transition areas between pine forest and tropical dry forest. It is found between 1500 - 2500 m asl.
