Introduction

West Mexican Chachalaca is large, conspicuous, and fairly common, and its natural history is relatively well known. Current gaps in our knowledge include such topics as life span and survivorship, dispersal, population regulation, and territory or home range size. Quantitative data on the effects of hunting on chachalaca populations also would be valuable. The interactions between chachalacas in contact zones between West Mexican Chachalaca and both Rufous-bellied (Ortalis wagleri) and Plain (Ortalis vetula) chachalacas merit further investigation.
