In 2000 the population of mature individuals was estimated at 2,500-9,999; however, due to the patchy distribution of Turquoise Dacnis, this number is likely an overestimate (BirdLife International 2017). Turquoise Dacnis is "rare" and "patchily distributed" relative to other Neotropical birds with a center of abundance in the middle montane zone (Parker et al. 1996). No information is available on age at first breeding, survivorship, parasitism, or population regulation for Turquoise Dacnis.
