A male in breeding condition was collected in August in Cundinamarca (Hilty and Brown 1986). In March of 2012, in the Apía region, Risaralda, a nest was placed in an acacia species, with two fledglings observed soon there after (Cortés Herrera et al. 2012). No other information on the timing of breeding has been reported. The nest and eggs have not been described.
