Related Species

Such’s Antthrush is most likely closely related to Rufous-tailed Antthrush (C. ruficauda), with which it was confused for many years. Willis (1992) recognized the distinctness of Such’s Antthrush, which has an altitudinal range (with some overlap above and below) between that of the lower-elevation Short-tailed Antthrush (C. campanisona) and the higher-elevation Rufous-tailed Antthrush. Due to its history of being overlooked, Such’s Antthrush is called Cryptic Antthrush by some authors (e.g., Ridgely and Tudor 1994, 2009, Gill and Wright 2006).
