Distribution outside the Americas

Endemic to the Americas.

Habitat

Spotted Nothura occurs in grasslands, "wherever ground cover is reasonably low and not too dense" (Belton 1984), and also in cultivated fields such as soybeans, corn, wheat, and dry land rice (Sick 1983).
