Conservation Status

Spotted Nothura has a very large geographic range, and generally is common. Consequently the IUCN Red List conservation status for Spotted Nothura is evaluated as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2014).

Effects of human activity on populations

Spotted Nothura is the most commonly hunted species of tinamou in Argentina and Brazil. On the other hand, the range of this species recently has expanded, as a result of deforestation and agricultural development, for example in the pampas of Argentina.
