Distribution in the Americas

This species appears to be found in regions of South America, particularly South Argentina, Southern Brazil, Eastern Bolivia and Paraguay. They are found in habitats consisting of mixed open grassland, brushlands and savannah (Maceda 2007, Global Raptor Network 2011).
