Priorities for Future Research

Parker et al. (1996) lists the research priority for Scarlet-thighed Dacnis as "low" compared to other Neotropical birds. There have not been recent articles discussing the range extensions of this species. Population level analyses of genetic data across the distribution are needed. In addition, little is known about the sexual behavior and reproductive behaviors of Scarlet-thighed Dacnis, especially in Ecuador where this species is most threatened.
