Priorities for Future Research

The Screaming Cowbird is part of a "simple" host - brood parasite system which has been the subject of much of the research on this species. There still is opportunity for discovering more details in the dynamics of host-parasite relationships and of host selection. The process by which young Screaming Cowbirds discover their species' identity is unknown. Many aspects of this species' biology not related to reproduction are little known and deserve study.
