Conservation Status

Under the 2010 IUCN Red List, the conservation status of Rufous-winged Tanager is rated as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2011). Parker et al. (1996) consider the species is fairly common in its geographic range.  In addition, Parker et al. (1996) classify the conservation priority of the Rufous-winged Tanager is "low" relative to other Neotropical birds.

Effects of human activity on populations

Parker et al. (1996) consider this species to have "medium" sensitivity to human disturbance.
