Priorities for Future Research

Territoriality has not been proven for this species, but spatial distribution of individuals suggests the possibility that territoriality exists, as well as results from research on other jacamar species; this aspect of Rufous-tailed Jacamar life history should be studied (Pinheiro et al 2003). Also, little has been published on behavior during mate selection.
