Diet and Foraging

The Ruddy Quail-Dove forages on the ground for fallen fruit (Skutch 1949). The diet in Jamaica includes pimento, physic-nut and other oily seeds, sweet-wood, and also small slugs; in captivity it can survive on a diet of corn (Gosse 1847).
