Effects of human activity on populations
The Ruddy Quail-Dove is common in most of its range, but tends to be sensitive to forest fragmentation. Population abundance s also has declined in the Dominican Republic, where they have been trapped for the pet trade (Trail et al. 1997). They are also rare now on the Virgin Islands due to human hunting and mongoose predation.
