Distribution in the Americas

It is distributes from eastern Mexico to central Argentina. In Mexico is on the Atlantic coast from southern Tamaulipas to the Isthmus, and in the interior and Pacific Slope in Chiapas.

It is a resident species, and is considered uncommon to common in the Mexican territory. It has been estimated that the range of occurrence of this species is about 14,000,000 km2, and the total population has not been quantified.

Inhabits in forested areas and forest edges, bushy scrubs, orchards, plantations and mangroves. Is between 0 - 2000 m asl.
