Distinguishing Characteristics

15 - 16.5 cm. 31 g. Iris amber to red. Bill grayish horn. Head gray with broad rufous eyebrow. Crown often tinged brownish. Upperparts olive. Throat and underparts yellow. Legs flesh color. Cozumel island individuals have throat and chest dull yellow; belly and feathers that cover under-tail buffy-whitish, upperparts olive-gray. Males and females are similar. Juveniles have eyes brown, crown brown and paler eyebrow less distinct.

Similar Species

There are no similar species in its distribution range in Mexico.
