Priorities for Future Research

Many aspects of the life history of the Red-necked Tanager remain unknown, such as its molts, territoriality, reproduction in the wild, sexual behavior, detailed foraging behavior, life span and population sizes, and  demography. Because most of the information available for this species consists of very general descriptions, further research in any of these areas would be valuable. Also, the extent of gene flow and potential reproductive isolation between populations in the two disjunct portions of this species are unknown.
