Priorities for Future Research

While the natural history of Red Warbler has been described in fair detail, there is still much to learn from this charismatic warbler. The evolutionary history of Parulidae on the whole has long been difficult to discern, but now that the taxonomic relationships have become more clear, there is a greater opportunity for insight into the early radiation of this group. In terms of conservation, climate change is known to have a particularly dangerous effect on montane specialists by "pushing" them to the mountain tops (Freeman and Freeman, 2014), but the extent of the threat to the Red Warbler has not been assessed.
