Plumbeous Kite Ictinia plumbea

  • Order: Accipitriformes
  • Family: Accipitridae
  • Monotypic
  • Authors: Hilary Yu

Priorities for Future Research

Although the breeding biology of the Plumbeous Kite is now better understood, little information exists in terms of population studies and demographic data. Not much is known about the lifespan, survivorship, and causes of death for this species. To be able to better track the historical changes in range and demography of Plumbeous Kite, future research should focus on collecting census data. Studies to illuminate important aspects of life history traits, such as age at first breeding and average lifespan, also should be a priority.
