Perija Metaltail Metallura iracunda

Unfortunately, little is known about the basic life history of this endangered hummingbird. Within its already restricted range in the Perijá Mountains, the Perijá Metaltail is threatened by various human activities that cause extensive habitat degradation. Perijá Metaltails tend to be found in semi-open areas with studded forest or lots of bushes. They frequent areas near summits or forest borders and many live in unique habitats including elfin forests, sandstone areas, and areas with bamboo in grass páramo.
