Spectacled Tyrannulet Zimmerius improbus

  • Order: Passeriformes
  • Family: Tyrannidae
  • Polytypic: 2 subspecies
  • Authors: Andrew W. Jones

Diet and Foraging

Spectacled Tyrannulet consumes both insects and fruits. There is little detailed information on its diet, however, and it is unclear how significant mistletoe drupes (Loranthaceae) are to this species; mistletoe is a major part of diet in some other species of Zimmerius.

Foraging Behavior

There is very little detailed information on the foraging behavior of Spectacled Tyrannulet. It gleans fruits and invertebrates, and may sally to capture flying prey. It primarily forages in the mid- to upper canopy.
