Distribution in the Americas

It distributes in northern Eurasia and northwestern North America, winters along the coasts of the Mediterranean, India and northwestern Mexico. It is a winter visitor of the coast of Baja California and Sonora, rarely on Sinaloa.

In Mexico it is considered a common to frequent winter visitor, and in summer it is rare to uncommon. It has been estimated that their distributional range is from 10,000,000 km2, global population has been estimated between 130,000 and 2,000,000 indivi
