Priorities for Future Research

Willis (1973) provided much detailed behavioral information on the Ocellated Antbird, and multiple recent studies have provided additional new insight. However, much still remains unknown. Little is published on behaviors around the nest, development of the young, age of maturation, and dispersal habits. Furthermore, additional work on the birds’ social system could provide new information on ant colony tracking and cooperative behaviors. Finally, additional information on the effects of forest fragmentation on populations could have valuable conservation implications for Ocellated Antbird.
