Conservation Status

The IUCN Red List status of Northern Emerald-Toucanet is assessed as of Least Concern, in view of its wide distribution, and despite the fact that the global population is believed to be in decline (BirdLife International 2017a, 2017b, 2017c). Under Mexican law this species is in the category of species subject to special protection.

Effects of human activity on populations

Northern Emerald-Toucanet is vulnerable to habitat destruction.
