Breeding is not well described. Apparently it nests in holes in trees, but no nest in the wild has been described. In captivity they make nests using seeds, feathers and other matherial available. They lay 3 eggs. Incubation and fledgings care last about 5 weeks. Nothing more is known (del Hoyo et al. 1997, Forshaw 1977, 2006).
