Distribution in the Americas

It is distributed from southeastern Mexico to Brazil. In the Atlantic Slope from southern Veracruz to Honduras.

It is a resident species from less common to common along its occurrence range that has been calculated in 7,200,000 km2.

It inhabits from 0 to 500 m asl (until 1000 in Honduras) in the driest parts of tropical forests and seasonally in the deciduous and gallery forests as well as in secondary vegetation or in the forest borders.
