Conservation Status

This species is not considered to be at risk. Marbled Wood-Quail are common throughout much of its range. This species also has an extremely large range. Although the population trend probably is one of decline, the Marbled Wood-Quail still is sufficiently abundant and widespread to not be threatened. Consequently, the IUCN Red List status is assessed as Least Concern (BirdLife International 2011).

Effects of human activity on populations

Habitat loss is the single greatest risk to many neotropical birds, including the Marbled Wood-Quail. The Marbled Wood-Quail is also hunted and increased harvest and exploitation could have adverse effects on populations.
