The song of Talamanca Hummingbird is described as "a soft, low-pitched song of burbling, scratchy, buzzy notes" (Stiles and Skutch 1989).
Calls include "a rather guttural, rolling nrrt or drrk" (Stiles and Skutch 1989). During aggressive encounters also has "a rapid stream of high, clear, liquid chips" that run together (Stiles and Skutch 1989).

Additional audio recordings of vocalizations of Talamanca Hummingbird can be heard at Macaulay Library and at xeno-canto (where recordings are mixed with those of Rivoli's Hummingbird Eugenes fulgens).
