Demography and Populations

In Huitepec Ecological Reserve, the abundance of Rivoli's Hummingbird was recorded as 41 individuals from January to August, 2010. There was a correlation between their abundance and the phenology of Passiflora membranacea during June (Partida 2011). International Birdlife (2012) considers the population size as extremely large (<10,000 mature individuals) and the population trend is one of increase.

At one site in Arizona, the productivity of Rivoli's Hummingbird in one year was 1.16 young per female (n = 2 nests; Baltosser 1986).
