Long-wattled Umbrellabird Cephalopterus penduliger

Diet and Foraging

The diet of the Long-wattled Umbrellabird is known to include fruits, small vertebrates, and large invertebrates (Berg 2000, Karubian et al. 2003, Snow 2004).  Extensive data on food brought to a nestling in southwestern Ecuador (Greeney unpubl.), along with the observations of Karubian et al. (2003) at a nest in northwestern Ecuador suggest that food brought to nestlings is similar.
