Breeding

There is very little information on the reproductive biology of Lettered Aracari. Breeding is inferred (from specimen data: gonadal condition, presence of immatures, etc.) as occurring from December-July in western Amazonia, and from August-March in eastern Brazil (Short and Horne 2001). The nest is presumed to be in a cavity in a tree; one pair nested in a solitary dead tree (Cedrela odorata) in a lake bed (Short and Horne 2001).
