Priorities for Future Research

Although there are two detailed observational studies of the Keel-billed Toucan, little is known about life span, incubation period, mate choice, and population demographics. These should also be priorities for future research.

Populations are large enough now to be considered of Least Concern, however the probable decline in local populations should be carefully studied to determine the exact causes and possible solutions.
