Demography and Populations

There is no information related to topics such as age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, dispersal, or population regulation for Jocotoco Antpitta. Estimated population densities at the type locality range from 6-7.5 individuals per km2 (Krabbe et al. 1999, Heinz 2002). It is unknown how far juveniles may disperse, but recent radio-telemetry studies suggest that individuals may range considerably farther than this territory estimate (Ridgely in BirdLife International 2013).
