Breeding

The nest of the Andean Motmot apparently is not described, but presumably is a in a burrow in a bank, as is typical of other species of motmots. Similarly, very little is known about the timing of breeding of this species. Miller (1963) collected a pair that he suspected were in breeding condition in May in Valle del Cauca (east slope of the western Andes of Colombia), and collected another male in breeding condition at this site in September.
