Distribution in the Americas

It distributes from eastern Mexico to northern Colombia. In Mexico, it is found in the Gulf slope from southern Veracruz to Honduras. It has been recorded in Tamaulipas.

It is a resident species, uncommon to common. Its distributional range has been calculated in approximately 360,000 km2.

Distribution outside the Americas

It is found between 0 and 900 m asl, in evergreen, second growth, and forest edges, also in clearings and quiet trails.
