Distribution in the Americas

It distributes from Mexico to western Panama. In Mexico it is from Sinaloa to the south, on the Atlantic slope from Tamaulipas to the south including the Yucatan Peninsula.

It is a resident species, common to frequent on both slopes. Their distributional range and global population have not been quantified.

Inhabits fields and pastures with scrub, semi-open areas, in sugar cane fields and clearings, from sea level to 1500 m asl.
