In general, little is known about the biology and natural history of the Green-headed Tanager. Relative to other Neotropical birds, Parker et al. (1996) designate the research priority for the Green-headed Tanager as "medium". In particular, more information is needed on life history, population biology, sexual behavior, predation, and territoriality. Given the extent of habitat disturbance across its range, more information is needed about its overall population size as well as data on any potential changes in population size over time.
