Priorities for Future Research

Although the Golden-naped Woodpecker is not considered to be threatened, at a global level, it has a restricted range that is threatened by habitat degradation and logging. Demographic information, however, is lacking for the populations of this species in these two countries. This is extremely important because monitoring populations and developing conservation plans are more effective actions when the species still have viable populations.
