Demography and Populations

Very little information is known regarding the age at first breeding, life span, survivorship, parasite load or population density of O. fraseri. The ecology of the Giant Conebill is intrinsically tied to the Polylepis woodland it inhabits, thus population density is most likely regulated by the availability of this dwindling habitat (Cahill and Matthysen 2007).
