Conservation Status

Globally it is considered a Least Concern species. In Mexico it is not under any category of protection. These shearwaters are threatened by the fishing industry, and has been reported that in eastern Australia are caught annually between 5,000 and 6,000 individuals accidentally. At other sites has not evaluated the impact of this activity, but it is considered a major threat factor. Introduced predators also affect nesting colonies.
