Fire-throated Metaltail Metallura eupogon

Sections
  • © Pete Morris

Unfortunately, little is known about the life history of this Peruvian endemic. Fire-throated Metaltails inhabit open glades, humid elfin forest borders, and shrubby areas in the páramo or near treeline on the eastern slope of the Andes. They have stunning reddish orange throats and the rest of the body is green overall.
