Behavior

Behavior

Very poorly known. Foraging behavior similar to that of other species of Picumnus, foraging for insects along slender branches and vines in the midstory and canopy. Unlike larger woodpeckers, piculets do not use the tail as a brace against the substrate.

Social and interspecific behavior

Usually encountered as singles or pairs in association with mixed species flocks (Schulenberg et al. 2007).
