Diet and Foraging


Dark-billed Cuckoo is primarily insectivorous, eating mainly caterpillars but also grasshoppers, stick-insects, beetles, and ants (Haverschmidt 1968, Payne 1997, 2005). Ervin (1989) specifically reported Dark-billed Cuckoo chicks having fed on hawkmoth larva.
