Distribution in the Americas

Coppery Metaltail is endemic to Peru. Distribution of Coppery Metaltail. Solid circles: specimen records; open circles: sight records; dotted line: 1000 m contour (Schulenberg et al. 2006)It is restricted to the east slope of the Andes of north central Peru, from the Cordillera Colán in Amazonas, south of the Río Marañón, south to the Cordillera Carpish in central Huánuco (Graves 1981, Schulenberg et al. 2010).

The elevational range of Coppery Metaltail is 2800-3550 m (Schulenberg et al. 2010).

Distribution outside the Americas

Endemic to the Americas.


Coppery Metaltail occupies the edge of elfin forest and shrubby paramo (Fjeldså and Krabbe 1990, Schulenberg et al. 2010).
