Usually found inside undisturbed subtropical forest between 2200 and 2440 m.a.s.l., though occasionally at forest edge and on open bushy slopes (Collar et al. 1992, del Hoyo 1999) . Habitat is dominated by Billia colombiana, Clusia spp., Persea sp., Hyeronima colombiana, Quercus humboltii and Weinmannia pubescens (Collar et al. 1992).
