Introduction

The very unusual incomplete biannual mating cycle of Cinnamon-bellied Flowerpiercer, as reported from western Mexico, deserves much attention. In this same vein, the general mating behavior of these birds is poorly known. Nothing is known of the courtship or possible extra-pair copulation, and only two nests have ever been described. Therefore, a thorough investigation of the mating biology and phenology of this bird would be rewarding and fascinating.

There also is little or no information on such topics as age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, dispersal, population regulation, territoriality and population density for Cinnamon-bellied Flowerpiercer.
