Demography and Populations

Little information. Population size not known but estimated to be between 50,000 - 499,999 adults (BirdLife International 2012). Lifespan, age at first breeding, reproductive rates, and determinants of population size are not known.

Parasites of Black-headed Trogon include the quill mite Syringophiloidus trogoni (Acari: Prostigmata: Syringophilidae) (Skoracki et al. 2013).
