Priorities for Future Research

Black-headed Saltator is large, common, and conspicuous, yet many aspects of its natural history are very poorly known. There is little detailed information on its diet or foraging behavior, its social structure, or its breeding biology; and there is no information at all on such vital topics as territoriality or population density, and on age at first breeding, life span, survivorship, parasitism, or population regulation.
